LOCATION HISTORY

Ottawa became part of the Lionhearts story in 2018, when our food recovery program expanded beyond Kingston to rescue even more from bakeries, grocery stores, and event venues. Regular pickups from COBS Bread locations were soon joined by donations from hotels, grocery chains, and other generous partners, all redirected free of charge to local frontline agencies.

When the pandemic arrived, Ottawa agencies received thousands of prepared meals from the Community Nutrition Program, ensuring that shelters and meal providers could continue serving those in need during unprecedented disruption.

To handle growing donations, Lionhearts leased a dedicated warehouse in Ottawa in 2023. This facility enabled the launch of our household goods recovery program with Amazon, beginning with a memorable first pickup of 27,000 tubes of Pringles. Since then, thousands of household items, from clothing to personal care products, have been rescued and distributed to local agencies.

Ottawa’s operations now play a major role in Lionhearts’ annual recovery of millions of dollars in food and goods, all provided at no cost to the organizations serving our neighbours in need and animated by one simple, unwavering vision: the eradication of hunger and homelessness.
