Help! (I Need Somebody) - June 2025 Newsletter
We all get by "With a Little Help from My (Our) Friends".
Getting by with some help might mean going to a place where everybody knows your name.
Or it might mean inviting people to "Stand By Me (Us?)".
Or, if your request is time sensitive, you might just shout "Help!" (though you might not have time to sing, much less compose, a whole song if that is the case).
On other occasions, you might be the one offering help to others - inviting them to "Lean on Me" or reminding people that "You've Got a Friend In Me".
Whatever the situation, we're blessed to be able to serve (our preferred synonym for "help") our community all year long.
In this particular moment, we're asking for a bit of help on behalf of those we serve.
We just launched our Unlock Hope 2025 fundraiser, which will strengthen several of our Kingston programs including our Community Nutrition meals program, our Student Food Box, and our Fresh Food Market Pop-Ups.
We have a goal of raising $60,000 which will be used to strengthen - another kind of help! - these programs. We'll use the funds to make some vital kitchen repairs, support our low-cost produce markets in reaching more people in the Kingston area, keep our Student Food Box program fully funded, and assist us in making the best use of our volunteers.
In raising these funds, we're proud to be supported by the Rotary Clubs of Kingston who have pledged $30,000 in matching funds from their Centennial fund, and Kinsmen Club of Kingston who have made a $10,000 gift. Thank you to Rotarians and Kinsmen Club members and donors!
And we're also pleased to have the support of our friends at Splitsville Kingston for a June 23 fundraiser, as well as new friends The Beatle Band and long-time partners Abby Stewart and The Spire for a July 5 fundraising concert.
See you there!
